Softball Greetings!
Before these piles of snow melt away we will be having 2010 Umpire
Certification opportunities. The
www.MSF1.org website will have all the
details posted soon. To help you plan ahead, here are the dates and
locations in District 1.
MSF Umpire Certification Clinics: Start at 7:30 PM
3/23/10 Faribault, Washington Rec Center
3/25/10 Austin, Izaac Walton Cabin
3/30/10 Rochester, Ramada Hotel
4/08/10 Winona, Lake Lodge
4/21/10 Owatonna, Morehouse Chalet (Unpublished, starts at 6:30 PM)
6/02/10 Austin, Izaac Walton Cabin
MSF State Umpire Schools: Start at 8:30 AM
3/27/10 Mankato
4/03/10 Prairie Island
4/10/10 Austin (J.O. School) 9AM to 3PM
The umpire schools are an excellent opportunity for beginning umpires.
They are free and meet the certification requirements of the clinics and
more. Encourage everyone to attend one every few years, especially the
newest umpires.
This year there will be several opportunities for Minnesota umpires to
work ASA National Championships. I would like your input as to who you
think
are the most qualified/deserving umpires in you communities. Even though
there are no official requirements, please use the following
critirea as
guidelines:
- Your top 2-4 umpires that work J.O. fastpitch
- Your top 2-4 umpires that work adult slowpitch
- Must be dependable
- Must be willing and you are confident to assign them your most
difficult leagues
- Must always wear proper uniform while umpiring
- Must demonstrate proper mechanics for positioning and signalling.
- Should have attended an MSF Umpire School or ASA National Umpire
School in the last 5 years
- You would be confident and proud to have them represent you, your
community and Minneasota umpires at a National Championship.
Please provide me your list of candidates by Friday, 2/19/10. Your
recommendations will be passed along and hopefully several will get the
chance to
"do a national".
Think spring,
