(1) 2010 2nd & 3rd Grade Player Registration Form
(2) 2010 Player Medical History and Release Form. As part of registration, all players must fill out and turn in this form. It will be provided to the coach in case of a medical emergency. Coaches must have them available at all practices and games. Note: If you have already submitted this form in a previous year and there are no changes, you do not need to submit it again.
Parent Coaches:
Teams will be coached by parent volunteers. If you would like to be involved in coaching your daughter's team, please fill out the 2010 Coaches Application Form.
2010 Minnies League Overview:
Girls who have completed 2nd or 3rd grade at the end of the 09/10 school year should sign up for our "Minnies" program. Girls will be split evenly across several Kasson-Mantorville teams.
This is a season for girls to come out and enjoy the sport of softball. This season is designed to teach them the fundamentals and get them excited about softball.
This is an 8-week season on Tuesday evenings, starting Tuesday, June 8th. Two weeks are designed for practicing the fundamentals. We will take this time to introduce the girls to proper throwing techniques, fielding techniques and batting. We will also use this time to explain offensive (ex. Base-running and outs).
Six weeks are designed for scrimmages against other Kasson-Mantorville teams. Scrimmages will run approximately 6pm to 7:30pm, or enough time to give each team at least 2 times to bat entire roster.
2010 Minnies League Rules:
During these scrimmage times we encourage the coaches to take the field with the girls and help them in making plays and explaining why plays are being made. Also get the coaches up at the batting box and help them during their batting times as well.
We encourage coaches to give girls a chance to play all types of positions to increase exposure to all aspects of the game.
During scrimmage the girls will play with the following rules:
- All girls on team will bat the entire team before switching sides. Team A will bat all girls and then switch to Team B to ball all girls.
- The outs will still count. If Team B throws a girl from Team A out at first base she will play it like an official out and return to dugout, however Team A will still keep batting until their entire roster has batted.
- The girls will pitch under hand without the windmill approach. The pitcher will have 3 pitches to get the batter to hit. After the 3 pitches if batter does not hit off of the live pitcher the coach will come in and give the girls 6 pitches. If a hit does not occur in those 9 pitches that girl will be called out and the next batter will be called up to bat.
- There will be no stealing, leading off the bases or bunting.
